Alpha healing center saved my life, my overall experience was great because of the individual therapy, small groups, and caring staff. They don't just focus on your disease here, they also help you work on your mental health and wellness. I learned a lot about myself thanks to alpha healing center.
Having someone close to you fight an addiction frays several different emotions. Fear, confusion, anger, blame. Dealing with these emotions effectively requires patience, consistency, structure, and most importantly, people who can educate you in the mind of the addict. I felt right from the start that the people at Alpha were aware of my feelings. Navigating me through the emotional minefield that was laid before me. Through education in the form of telephone conferences (the distance from my home was restrictive) gave me the tools and confidence I needed to go to war against an enemy that doesn't fight fair. So how do they help the addict? They instilled in my loved one a sense of self worth. They showed him his life was more valuable than he could ever imagine. They reinforced the importance of honesty without fear, while stressing personal accountability. They were honest about the difficulty of his fight, and didn't endorse the "relapse is part of recovery" mindset that, in my humble opinion, sets the addict up for failure. Alpha teaches is that the battle you wage against the disease of addiction is one that's fought every day. The greatest enemy of addiction is honesty. A close second is the support of family. Not one who just encourages, but one who sets up your loved one to succeed. Alpha stresses structure, expectation, consequence, and consistency. My war to save the one I love will be a tough one, But I wake up every day ready to fight, thankful for the great people at Alpha who gave me the tools to win. They gave me back my son, they saved his life, I'll always be eternally grateful. A special thank you to Denise for the long and thoughtful phone conversations.
